Local FOX affilates did it again

They (FOX 29 in Philadelphia) put up some kind of station ID which covered up the opening caption/joke on last night's episode (8/3/03)

So what was it?

OK, that's weird... I also watched it on Fox29 Philadelphia, and yet I somehow recognize that quote. Wizard? HYPNO-TOAD? Or just that they showed it for a second or two after the station ID? I would put my money on one of the first 2, because I KNOW that Fox29 is run by total JERKS who would rather show over an hour of post-game coverage when the Eagles DIDN'T win than show new eps of Futurama, (KOTH?), and The Simpsons. Well, I thank the HYPNO-TOAD we aren't in the West, where they get even more preemptions than we do...

Even worse is when they run those stupid little promo animations across the bottom of the screen. Well the good thing is that when Futurama ends I'll be down to watching only one show on FOX, The Simpsons. ABC is even worse. Once Whose Line is it anyway ends it run this summer, no more reason to watch ABC. Idiots! I love Disney World but that company sure knows how to run a network into the ground. Must have taken lessons from FOX.

I think the other problem is executives who think they can run any business from one making nuclear missiles to one making popcorn. I guess Disney thinks making movies and running theme parks can't be all that different from making TV show. I wonder if it also isn't a case of micromanagement - too many business guys trying to make creative decisions and relying too much on surveys and focus groups.

Wasn't there a sign in last Sunday's Futurama about "No writers allowed on the set." ?

There's the Teledyne/Textron/Lycoming/Continental Super conglomerate monster. One company with over 90% of the piston aircraft engine market. And you don't even get a choice. You must have the engine specified for your aircrtaft. So any and all past and current aircraft have either a Lycoming or Contenental engine that needs to be factory overhauled and or replaced every 1000 hours. By textron/teledyne/lycoming/contenental or a certified (pay the factory for a certificate) shop of course. You think Microsoft is evil?

NFL 60 Minutes

NBC

ER Law & Order L & O: SVU

WB:

Nothing

UPN:

Enterprise

That's it. Everything else I watch is on cable.

Ok the WB and UPN are not networks. They are syndication packages hosted by UHF stations.

And thinking about it, all I watch on network tv is Futurama, Scrubs, and occasionally Late Night With Conan O'Brien. ...... Good thing I threw down for that HDTV..........

Not in certain areas. WB and UPN are on channels 11 and 9 respectively here in NYC.

They still remain on Independent stations. For less then the total daily airtime. (like FOX used to kinda be.)

FOX is still like that. Even NBC and ABC are like that in some markets. Not every channel is directly owned by the network it's affiliated with.

I think I've got you beat. Apart from Futurama and Scrubs, I pretty much never watch the networks. Moreso now that Comedy Central is re-airing Late Night with Conan O'Brian.

I've got *that* beat. I never watch network *or* cable. Futurama comes over the Internet or on DVD (I used to watch it on FOX, but since they stopped reliably actually *showing* it...) and everything else from Netflix or we own the DVDs.
