I don't like this fox schedule

I don't particually like watching King of the Hill anymore... I don't understand why they interrupted the Groening hour of power with that... Maybe its ratings are slipping, and they force people to watch it so it goes up... I think it works backwards... They put a bad show between two good shows, and people just see how much worse the middle show gets... Research has been done with lab rats and babies on how if they are shown one piece of culture for an extended period of time, and another is introduced with the one they are familiar with, they go with the one they are familiar with. I think they want to up viewership with this theory, but the opposite is true too. If people dislike a stimuli, extended exposure makes em like it less.

King of the Hill isn't crap, but its nothing in comparison with what its sandwhiched between, making it seem like crap. Its a good show to see if you came to early to watch futurama, but in the middle, it seems like a really long commercial.

Also another personal note: malcom in the middle doesn't seem like crap to me anymore seeing that futurama is back on. I think I displaced my anger and depression of futurama being off into hating malcom in the middle... Of course if you like X-files... You may be looking at Malcom as another one of those extended commercials...

My perception is that Parker Lewis was aimed towards children, but adults could watch and be amused too, while Malcolm is aimed towards adults and children can watch and be amused too.

Well, I have to admit the new FOX schedule got me to sit through a full episode of King of the Hill. Before I just caught the endings sometimes while waiting for The Simpsons to come on. I don't agree with you that it "seems like crap." It's got some nice storytelling and true-to-life characterization in it. It's a drama without being a soap opera. The biggest problem for me is that I just don't understand the southern culture. It's as different from my northern suburban upbringing as the inner city on the PJs is. The Simpsons in its heyday was an exact mirror of my family. I don't relate to the characters of KOTH very much.

I finally watched Malcolm and was also fairly impressed. It's much more than a Married with Children clone. Malcolm is one of those likable characters made for smart viewers, like Lisa on the old Simpsons. It's nice to see a show that asks the audience to identify with the character who is smarter than all the others, and no less is a misfit because of it.

In fact, sitting through the full 2-hour 7-9 block last night, The Simpsons stands out as being the true embarrassment to the FOX network now. Judging from the other 3 shows, I'd think FOX was an innovative, clever, exciting, original, intelligent broadcaster. The Simpsons makes me think of its usual reputation, as a haven for pea-brained, low-class entertainment aimed at young teenagers.

That's exactly what they didn't do. They cleverly made use of the stereotype to make you think that's exactly what that kid was. Then we, along with Malcolm were shocked, and us also amused, when the kid turned out to be an overgrown 7-yr old.

Wasn't the whole point for the bully to look older than he really was? Same for his older brother. Making him fat/large for his age worked to that effect. And in what way was he dumb?

Good theory. Have you heard of any other subcidiary of Fox not showing Futurama anymore ? (someone said that now they can't watch Futurama in Alberta).

You're forgetting that Sundays @7:00 belongs to 60 Minutes....the most consistently-rated and watched news magazine in the country. Putting Futurama in that slot is a slow death sentence, if it scores Nielsen 8s or 9s (on par with the Simpsons ratings) I'll be surprised.

No-one really did in Australia, hence its removal from Free-to-air Seven.

Something to do with getting 1.5 hours of viewers from 1.0 hours of good shows.

It's a crap sandwich... a Big Mac even.. <jk> As I said, we only saw a season (or half a season) of King of the Hill before Seven axed it. Now we get Futurama on seven. They are flogging it like mad, trying to steal the Simpsons time-slot. How's that for bad timetabling
