No posts here since 8/10. I would have thought Volume 5 coming out would have warranted some comments. Anyone still here?

Even though "The Late Philip J. Fry" is the only really great episode from this latest season. :)

Eh. The iPhone bit was funny, but will not age well. And the episode had poor continuity with previous obsolute-robot episodes. And worst, the part about a worm being triggered on a million followers blah blah makes no sense when the attacker _already controls the network_. That last one I could shrug and let go with a show that isn't generally so smart, but, c'mon.

And that's not even considering that the whole "Boil" plotline was based on pop culture we'd already forgotten, and so completely awful it would have sunk the episode even if it were relevant.

The four initially direct to video "movies" (which were each cut into four episodes) weren't released as a set.

Since the rest of the episodes aren't going to air for a while, Fox probably wanted to get what they had onto the market.

I know about that, and for the most part, I've always considered Futurama's use of volumes instead of seasons to be used for good instead of evil. Family Guy started out that way. The first season was short, so the combined it with season two and released them together as Volume One. Season 3 was Volume Two. It wasn't until they got their second chance that they started using volumes for evil. I hate to see Futurama going the same route.

Now that you mention the movies, they were pretty pricey, too. Each debuted around here for about $35, which is pricey for a four episode movie. I picked them up used for around $10 each and then picked up the last two again on Blu-Ray when Best Buy was selling them for $10 apiece. (The picture is great, but Blu-Ray itself is a major pain in the a**.)

Which would be fine if they charged a half season price! The local price is around $40.

It's not even about the money (well, mostly not), but about the "We know they want it. Let's milk 'em for every cent we can get!" attitude. (At the height of its popularity, The X-Files list price was $200 a season, with a street price of around $150.) I understand that's how business is, but it doesn't mean I have to like it! :o(
