Gender roles in the year 3000

Gender roles have changed considerably since the 1950's. It stands to reason they may change a great deal more by the year 3000. Perhaps by then society would be more female-dominated, as it stands to reason that women would outnumber men significantly by then. (My reason being the fact that 51% of all babies born are female, and more men are more likely to die in future wars than women.) I'd like to see the changes in gender roles reflected on Futurama.

If you're interested in a feminist... oh sorry, female dominated show, watch "The Women's Television Network" and their excellent programs *cough*.

There is no reason the show should be female dominated, it would add nothing to the story and would end up taking away a lot of the focus on Fry. (Which the show is about). Why mess with gender roles when there is so much more potential to look at the other changes in our civilization.

I can see where you're coming from though, it would be a neat gimmick. But in the end thats all it would end up being.

Well, as far as gender-related stuff goes....more female nudity is definately needed. :-P The ratio of Fry-Leela nudity is too high right now. It took Groening like 7 years to do a full shot of Marge nekkid, yet we saw Homer/Bart since first season. Let's not have a repeat of that.

Yeah yeah, I know, I'll put on the flame-retardant clothing now and sit back to wait to burn. :) You gotta admit though, it's worth mentioning.

Well, why not? I get to see plenty of nekkid ROBOTS on this show [*drool*], so, it's only fair that Meatbagosexuals get their jollies, too. What the hey, eh? btw: They've shown a few [semi]nude males, which gives new meaning to the term "skin tube".

Actually, the phenomenon of showing more male than female nudity extends to "real" TV, as well. The first episode of "NYPD Blue" showed some guy's butt, right? I can't say for certain, since that was also the last episode of "NYPD Blue" I watched [*], but I don't think they've had the female equivalent of that shot. My guess is that network censors don't consider naked men to be as much of a turn-on as naked women, and thus are more willing to let male nudity slide by.
