Interesting Game/Episode parallel

I'm watching my S2 DVD set, and in the episode "A Bicyclops Built for Two", the "video game" that they play at the beginning reminds me quite a bit of the Futurama game, especially the Mine levels. You've got box shooting, lots of platform jumping, and shooting at enemies, though you only get to shoot the AI in the game, not the other characters.

.....it reminds me of every platform game ever made...not saying platform games are unoriginal or anything, just pointing out that it's like saying Futurama reminds you of Scooby Doo, because they're both cartoons.
