One of the Usenet cabal at alt.config commented to the effect that the alt.* was inappropriate for Futurama as it is international, not just about the U.S. Is The Simpsons *only* shown in the U.S.? If it is being aired outside the U.S., then likely Futurama rights will also be available for syndication worldwide. I thought I once heard that The Simpsons were syndicated outside the U.S. Please tell me I'm not full of shit, as I may have egg all over my face in alt.config for suggesting so.

Of course the Simpsons is aired outside the US. In fact, I have seen it in German, French and Italian. FYI, it airs on Pro 7 in Germany and in the UK on both Sky and BBC. I don't remember the French or Italian channels. Besides, since Futurama *is* aired in Canada, that makes it international. To the best of my knowledge, he US hasn't incorporated it.....yet

Not in Italy, at least for now. I've heard Mediaset (the most important non-public network) has bought the first serie but I don't know when it will be shown. Anyway a short trailer has been transmitted by all major News programs during last 2/3 weeks (and by the way, do you know if that trailer is downloadable somewhere?). I hope Futurama will be on my TV as soon as possible!!!!

Yes, I live in Canada, and I have seen Simpsons on two Canadian stations called Teletoon and Global. I have seen Futurama on Fox, and we get that in Canada, so technically, it is aired in Canada even though it's an American station.

Local Canadian stations often broadcasts at the same time as The American Station so they can broadcast over the American station (which is exactly the same) and then get Cdn advertising. btw, Isn't Futurama on Global as well?

Do a search for Simpsons. It should give you the day, time, and network in Australia. Their free tv networks are ABC [Australian Broadcasting Company] not the same as the Disney-owned ABC in the U.S. Australian free tv networks that I know about are ABC [similar to PBS in the U.S.], commercial networks 7, 9, and 10, and another PBS-like network, SBS, which shows a lot of foreign-language shows.
