Yeah, I know Futurama isn't even on tonight, but I'm sure a lot of you are Simpsons and Xfiles fans, and I know this happens every week, but it's worse this week. As I write this, its 5pm, the Red Sox game is in the 11th inning and it's already 4 hours long. So, say this game ends within the next hour - are they going to air 4 hours of Nascar at 6pm?? FOX may not respect Futurama but the Simpsons and XFiles are their big players... they're really going to show brand new eps of those at midnight???? This is driving me nuts!

Their more recent commercials said they were having 3 Simpsons, one of which is new from 7-8:30, then Malcom then Xfiles. Seems it was bumped. That's weird. Very weird. Too bad, I had wanted to watch that tonight. It was supposed to cover the prime time. Well if the red sox were aired on a UHF station like any sane city does there would be no problem at all. But essentially your original post makes the erroneous assumption that your affiliate cares about the shows and not simply their advertising.
Here's the Phantom Menace story (below)... also, I just looked at the Fox message boards, and they've been deleting posts that are critical of the way they are handling Nascar... dicks.

Jar Jar Binks won't be coming to Fox this spring after all. The network has decided to push back the previously scheduled April 29 television bow of ""Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace'' until November -- even though Fox had already started promoting the picture with flashy primetime spots.
Rights to the picture weren't cheap, and with the ad market decidedly chilly right now, Fox executives apparently thought the network's sales force could squeeze more revenue out of the movie later this year.
Overall TV viewership tends to go up in the fall and winter, increasing the likelihood of Fox drawing a bigger overall audience to ""Phantom.''
Not really related, but why was there no (American) DVD release of the Star Wars movies?

Actually, it has not been officially released on DVD anywhere, but there is extremely good evidence that it will be coming out on DVD in October (see thedigitalbits.com for details/evidence). Hopefully this isn't hogwash like all the other rumors that have circulated, but the evidence does stack up (from Fox stating that they have something special, to Lucasfilm, Fox, and a DVD publisher requesting a huge print run (more than 3x what was printed for Gladiator, which is the biggest selling disc thus far)).
