Hmmm, I thought that "Godfellas" or "No Fan" would get the nod. "Roswell's" good, but not in the same league as "Parasites Lost" or "Amazon Women"- the previous Emmy nominees.
I'm hoping for a win (that won't happen.) I have delicious visions of Cohen and Groening accepting their awards and telling FOX where to stick it in front of 50 million TV viewers.
The show's producers were only allowed to submit one episode - it was their choice, not the Academy's.
Er, this award is one of the "Creative Arts" awards (you know, like Hairstyling and Technical Direction and Multi-Camera Picture Editing), which isn't on TV, except for an edited version a week after they're awarded (on TV Land, I think).
Won't win? Here's the competition: The Simpsons - She of Little Faith (Lisa becomes a Buddhist) King of the Hill - Bobby Goes Nuts (Bobby takes a women's self-defense course - "THAT'S MY PURSE!") South Park - Osama bin Laden Has Farty Pants (haven't seen this one) As Told by Ginger - Lunatic Lake (I have a feeling that if you're familiar with the show, you know what episode this is, and if you're not, it's highly doubtful that you'd care in this newsgroup)
I think it has a chance, although KOTH might get the "I remember that episode" vote. They should have submitted "Where No Fan Has Gone Before"...

I don't know, I'm suspecting that a lot people (TV industry peeps included) haven't even heard of Futurama, let alone seen it. Just a nice fringe benefit of being buried in a lousy timeslot and getting pre-empted ad nauseum.
If it had THAT many problems, how did it get nominated in the first place? Also, I think the final decision is limited to a "blue-ribbon panel" of just "Animation branch" members of the TV academy (this isn't the Oscars, where everybody in the movie academy votes on every award, so you get sound specialists voting on makeup).
I'm not saying that it didn't deserve the nomination. I just believe the industry prefers to award success rather than merit. Merit gets you in the door, but popularity is what usually snags the gold. And even as much as I love Futurama, from_strictly_a_ratings_standpoint, I can't consider it either popular or successful.
If this were a solely a technical award within Animation (Best achievement in writing, directing, etc) I'd have faith that a peer-voted award would go to the nominee with the most merit. But it's not.

I thought that Where no show had gone before was the best Futurama episode of the season. As for KOTH-Peggy Genius episode was the funniest or maybe the one where Dale gets sent on the wild goose chase.
Simpsons-I think they just nominated this one because it shows that their characters can be dynamic. I liked the season finale the best..
just out of curiosity, what is Lunatic Lake? What channel does it come on?
if As told by Ginger doesnt win, i really hope Futurama wins that award instead, but doubt it sinse its up againest The Simpsons
