Well, it obviously isn't, which I think is why there might be a continuity glitch here. Does anyone else remember Fry being in his twenties in an earlier episode?

Yes. I do remember Leela saying he was either 25 or 26, though I have no idea what episode it's from.

Well, remember that the Mets made it to the World Series in both 1969 and 1973. Ed Kranepool was still with the Mets in 1973. That would make Fry 26 years old during News Years Eve, 1999.

There's gotta be some kinda continuity problem. There's almost no way Fry's 30 years old. I seem to remember in a previous ep Fry mentioning his age or something. Guess it's time to fire up Realplayer and going thru the archives.

None of the WS games in '69 or '73 ended with a hit batsman.

Shame, they went through the trouble of getting the names right, they should have gone a step further.

But the Mets did win in 1973 as well as Willie pointed out. So they were only off by one year. Or Leela was just rounding down.

The mets didn't win but they did go all the way to game 7 before loosing. So that could have been game 5. Or the NL Penant game. So that would push Fry's birth date back.

Well, we can see if the broadcast Mrs. Fry listens to corresponds to the final game of the '69 Series, or any game in the '73 playoffs. Does anyone have a transcript of the broadcast heard in the episode? I can check it against what Total Baseball says.
