Respect to the team for wrapping up that arc timely and neatly. Too bad X-Files writers didn't understand the importance of proper closure on *some* of the ongoing character arcs.
Is this a sign the writers knew FUTURAMA may not last much longer way back when this episode was made?

Yeah, as much as I enjoyed X-Files, I have to say that by the 7th season, I really had no clue what was going on. There were so many conspiracies covering up other conspiracies that I was't sure what was real and what wasn't.
Of course, I wasn't a HUGE fan, and maybe I just didn't watch enough.
I was wondering about that myself...I was surprised by two things.
1) That they actually showed where she came from and
2) That no one ever thought about the mutant idea before now (myself
included).Go fig. Anyways, good episode.

The alien invasion/black oil conspiracy worked for a while, since it tied the seasons and some episodes together. But after a while, I got tired of the "what you saw 2 weeks ago wasn't the true answer", they kept pulling the rug out from under us so much that I just gave up keeping track of any of those episodes.
I watched religiously untill the middle of the 8th season, by then I was so burned out by all the confusing story arcs, I didn't care any more. I haven't watched any of the is season BTW.
