I'm glad they are finally going back to play the first season. It has been so long since I have seen some of these early episodes it is like watching them for the first time. Last night they introduced Dr. Zoidberg for the first time, I forgot this is (so far) my favorite cartoon of all time. It's too bad we will never see new episodes.

The writers and everybody have probably moved on to other projects. They were a talented group and I doubt any are sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring... But, maybe they could do a special now and then? Do a few eps like Space Ghost and then like 2 years later do a handful more... Although to be honest I like how the last show ended.
Btw, I bought vol.1 of Futurama, but I probably won't buy any others until season 5 (gotta have JB). The price is a bit steep. I love the show and commentaries, but I feel a bit guilty spending so much. (Luckily, my nearby locally owned offbeat video stores gets copies that I can rent.)

There is NO season 5. Fox's "season 5" was just unaired episodes from previous seasons, which were always being pre-empted by minor league sports and low budget "reality" shows.

Correct. All of the episodes have been aired now, but they weren't when Fox decided to air the remaining episodes as "season 5." Yes, "Devil's Hands..." was the final episode.
