SYPNOSIS (Canadian TV Guide): Fry and Leela make makes a delivery to an amusement park on the moon.

REVIEW: This could have been two episodes. The Farmer's daugters could have been done in another non-moon episode leaving more time for the tacky Luna Park.

GRADE: B

DYN: - eggs were from giant bird in commercial? - guy with Moon U shirt? - 128K is a reference to computer memory?

GOOFS: - the moon has no atmosphere so sound can't travel (well, d'uh!) - the capsule at the orignal moon capsule where Leela and Fry stayed actually returned to the lunar orbiter.

CULTURAL REFERENCES:

"The Eagle Has Landed": first words telling the lunar lander has touched down safely.

"Sleeper" by Woody Allen: - scene of the dismembered robot heads.

"The Honeymooners" - Ralph's threat to Alice.

"Deliverance" - hillbillies

"Life In Hell" - bunny wabbits.

Amy Wong: - cute:)

As someone else already pointed out, the "Historical Stickler Society" returned the lander to its landing site....

The Bottle in to the eye of Moon MAn was a reference to the first ever science fiction film EVER. "Le Voyage Dans La Lune" is probably best known for the spacecapsule the landed in the "eye" of the "man" in the moon.

For some background on this film watch the last episode of "From the Earth to the Moon", entitled (appropitely) "Le Voyage Dans La Lune", or as Americans know it, "The Voyage to the Moon"

I don't find Amy Wong to be all that cute. In fact, if she were older, Kahn, Jr. on King of the Hill would be cuter than Amy, IMO. But then again, I mostly prefer anime girls to almost all other kinds of cartoon characters.

The moon has a very thin atmosphere, but it exists. There is not enough oxygen to breath, but there is enough molecules to transfer sound, though it would sound kind of tinny due to low frequency drop outs.

Part of the lander stayed on the moon. But the plaque states that the lander was actually restored by the Historical Society.

Indeed, that was pretty slick! I wonder if that was always intended as a "non-goof goof", or if somebody realized late in production that the LEM wasn't on the moon any more.

All of them have either impacted on the lunar surface (to dispose of them and to give some extra data for the lunar seismometers), or burned up in the atmosphere (this is what happened to the Apollo 13 LM). There are actually _no_ LM's that exist that have actually been into space (since there is no mechanism for their safe re-entry or return). However, the Historical Stickler Society might well have used an LM from Earth that has not been to space, or they might have refurbished the original LM(s) from the remains on the lunar surface.

Anyway, I loved the sticker, it was a great jab at all the CMG's out there.

Also, if it hasn't been done already, someone with more time (and better freeze-frame capabilities than I have) may want to list the characters that go through the tubes during the opening credits. I saw Amy, the doctor, and the two cops from the first episode, amongst others.

That's what I thought - until they showed the sign inside of it: "Lander Returned To This Site By The Historical Sticklers Society". (And the bottom part remained on the moon; only the top part went back to the Apollo command/service module. After all, there's not much need for the legs once they've already landed.)

Anybody know any halfway-decent Futurama sites? I knew about one (something like "The Futurama Zone", I think), but now it says I can't access it.
