I know a lot of other futurama fans also watch the simpsons, so did anyone else notice the (very obviously recently-tacked-on) 'olympics' intro to tonight's Simpsons?
Homer said someting along the lines of 'they've pre-empted my favorite show one time too many'.
Loose threat to FOX to get in-line with Futurama ? Or just another NBC dig (who don't often pre-empt shows, so it makes little sense there)

Both the Simpsons and King of the Hill appeared to have an upside-down Olympic logo. And the opening of the Simpsons was an obvious attack at how shows get pre-emptied for the Olympics.
I guess during Olympic times, Fox would prefer to have the alternative programming so no one shoud sit through reruns on the other networks over the feeling that it's not worth the ratings we'll have anyway.
There was also a second when Lisa said something about is the series over and everyone gasped, and then she meant the series of scenes in this episode.

Yeah, but that episode was a rerun of an early January episode so it can't be referring to the current Futurama situation.

Think of me when you look to the night sky!" \/Your probably right, although I bet the folks at Futurama had an idea of what was going to happen a while ago. From firsthand experience, when a client is getting ready to stop business or stop paying, a sixth sense kicks in and warns you. Although Fox missed the absolute deadline to continue production, if their intentions with different, they probably would have formalized keeping it production at an earlier date. Anyway, though, I think the simpsons reference was probably just a simpsons joke, like you said.

Oh yeah, I think they were just being self-referential. In the context of Marge's comment immediately before Lisa's, it seems pretty clear. Marge says something like "It's hard to believe we've had two hundred ___ episodes" etc., and then Lisa says her "Could this be the end of our series... [everyone gasps] ... of adventures?"
