false rumours of cancellation?

I wrote to FOX about Futurama and received this reply below... (I wonder though how many staff are going to wait around until May 03 to see if the show is renewed. Even if it is--and it sounds unlikely to me--they probably will lose a fair amount of staff.)

There will be no cancellation because the show's moving to Comedy Central. It WOULD have been cancelled, but technically, it isn't. Instead, Fox is not renewing the show.

In other words, "Dooooooooooooooon't yooooooooooooouuuuu beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeliiiiiiiiieve iiiiiiiiit!"

It's moving to Cartoon Network, not Comedy Central. Cartoon Network owns the cable rights to the show until 2007.

It's sort of interesting to watch the development of their auto-replies. They must be pretty annoyed that they added the "don't listen to false rumours" a few weeks ago.

A bit on the rude side "don't bother me again till next year!!", no?

Anyway, like it would be possible for the producers to assemble a new team, free resources in Korea *and* produce episodes within 4 to 6 months. (May to season start). Some artists and writers might be replacable, but don't even make me think about them needing to get new voices due to possible other obligations of DiMaggio, West, Sagal et al. The guy who wrote that autoreply-block probably sucked these things out of his fingers or worse body parts.

I understand voice work is pretty fast; a season can be recorded in maybe a few weeks. Animating takes much longer, of course. But it shouldn't be too hard to get the voice talent back for a quick session. I worry more about getting the writers, animators, and overseas animation studios back.
