Review of Mutant Leela's Teenage Hurdles

Since nobody is reviewing this episode I thought I might as well review it.

I thought the overall plot of the episode was very good but the execution was for the most part terrible. This opposite of the last episode were the overall plot was stupid but its execution was good. I thought the entire Gargoyle theme was stupid but that is only a minor issue. The main issue is that this episode was more like a bunch of short stories that originate from one main story. We have Leela and her parents, Fry trying to make the moves on Leela, Amy and her parents, and the professor trying to get everybody back to normal in an episode that is only slightly longer than twenty minutes. The writing was pretty good though. The episode would have been better if they only dealt with the Leela issue.

Grade:B- (B if there was no gragoyle)

I agree, the Gargoyle idea didn't really fit too good. I did like the way the two Gargoyle's were drawn though. The voice and the glowing eye's were cool too.

I'm not sure how to rate this episode, but it doesn't really make my favorites list.

True. True. Most things in life don't fit anyways. In comedy it is often quite funny when things just happen for no reason or come out of no-where.

To be honest I didn't really see the Gargoyle as an overall theme that destroyed the episode. I guess I was just trying not to argue over Mr. Ratner's opinions.

The Gargoyle was a nice way of linking the beginning of the episode to the end.

Exactly. The ending had me laughing because it was so random.

Yep and without the gargoyle we wouldn't have had the professor flying around "Zuzuuuuuuuu" (spelling?), that really cracked me up as he destroyed the space station with the high beams "Zuuuuuzuuuuuuu" :D

That station was Deep Space Nine, wasn't it?

It makes mine. I liked the gargoyle subplot and the sewer race was one of the best action sequences ever.:)
