Hypno-Toad sound origins?

I know I've heard the Hypno-Toad sound effect before but can't remmeber where.

Anyone know where that sound comes from?

I know this sounds odd but I think the sound is very similar to cold-war era Soviet radio jamming signals.

its mentioned in the season 3 commemtary for "The day the earth stood stupid" that the sound was added for the temp track, but they liked it so much it stuck.

So my guess would be its part of some stock sound effects compilation.and has likely been used in other things

I always figured it was some electical feedbackish noise they threw together.

Or some sort of industrial noise.

It is mentioned on the comentary, if memory serves (I haven't watched that epsiode for a while) David Cohen (spelling!), said the effect was called 'angry machine'.

Yeah, it was originally a placeholder sound but Matt liked it so much they kept it.

Its the same sound that large generator turbines make in industrial factories.
