I think the better form of this question should be: "which show had a better first season?" In this form, I'd go with Futurama 100%. If you leave it vague and generaly, it would have to be the Simpsons -- it didn't become on of the longest running primetime shows by sucking.

I see no reason to even bother answering this question. So I won't.

California oranges, or Florida oranges? That's what we should be asking.
Which came first? Season One of Futurama or Season Eleven of The Simpsons?
The egg. No, wait, the chicken. No, the egg. Hmm. The chicken. But it hatched. The egg. Definitely the egg. No wait...
If you answered "the egg" during the inquisition, they'd string you out on a pole...

The chicken came first. God put it there. Just like Adam and Eve came before Cain and Abel.
God made the chicken, people! (Not to be confused with chicken-people, those of us who know grammar will understand the difference). God made chickens in his own image.
Check out Luke 4:24-26: Once it has rained and dried from the dust of earth, there shall arise a feathered beast of crow (scholars interpret this to be the modern day chicken). This crow arisen in His image will glide upon wings of hope and His people will taste upon His crow and defeat the torrins of hunger and blandness thrust upon them by the oppressors. All pardoning His harden beak of bone and flesh skinned legs shall be consumable and basted in a hectoberry sauce (botanists have discovered that the extinct hectoberry was a predecessor to the modern day hickory BBQ sauce).
Check it out for yourself.
Okay. Since I don't have an actual bible off-hand...
Luke 4:24-26
[24] And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. [25] But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; [26] But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
I love the internet... and whoever went through the trouble of putting the entire bible online.

The Simpsons. But give Futurama a few years.
