In "Put Your Head on My Shoulder", why did they put Fry's head on Amy's body instead of preserving it in a jar for forever and a day?

DGH

Probably because it would be more interesting than watching Fry on a shelf for 30 minutes.........

I have to say, though, IMHO, the funnier part of that episode is Bender's Dating Service......

Well first there wasn't the equipment handy on Europa where they crashed. And Zoidberg was confident he could repair Fry's body. So in an uncharacteristic bout of actually being an effective doctor. He put Fry's head on Amy's body to keep him alive while they waited for rescue. Then why risk more physical shock moving him from Amy to a jar then from a jar back to his body.

Yes, did anyone else notice that Zoidberg actually did correct medical surgery on humans? IIRC, in this episode, the poster of a human in Zoidberg's office is upside down...not to mention he thinks Fry had a dorsel fin...lol

It had to be on Europa, which seems to be sparsely populated or not at all. Since "Hot rod" Zoidberg totaled Amy's car, they weren't going anywhere until help arrived.

As for Zoidberg's sudden medical ability, head transplants are probably routine procedures done by pressing the head remove button, followed by the attach head button.

Notice that Amy's "disfiguring scar", like her "obscene tattoo" is gone by the next episode. Ah, to be young again, and also animated.

I don't have any problems with my disfiguring scar (I'm told it "adds character"), but I really would like to at least edit a couple of my obscene tattoos. They were fine during my first two marriages, but I ran out of fiancs named "Bubbles" and I can't get my third wife to change her name.

Haven't you noticed that every Head-in-a-Jar has been someone who became famous before the year 2000? Fry does not qualify.

You know, it would make an interesting idea to make up some fictional future dead celebrities that survive as heads in jars....

Not to mention that it's hard for the writers to think of anybody who became famous after the year 2000. They could use their kids but (1) that's morbid and (2) nobody else would get the reference.

My guess is that Dr. Zoidberg didn't have a jar and collar handy at the time. They were on a day-trip to Europa, remember. So attaching Fry's head to Amy's body was the only way of keeping him alive.
