The first time I heard mention of Gaydar was Bender's famous gadget that came out of his chest when Leela was searching for a man in the Episode where she meets another cyclops, but not her parent. (sorry about that last sentence)
I've heard it mentioned in several movies and shows. I was wondering if it originally came from Futurama? Or if not, then where?

a recent issue of _MacAddict_ did a parody story on an add-on for Apple's iPod MP3 player called iDate, one of its functions included Gaydar. Other functions include Size-O-Meter, IQ Analyzer, Wealth Sensor, STD Alarm and BS Detector.....
What made the story even funnier was the plug-in antenna, which resembled "Little Bender" :)

=v= The term "gaydar" has been around since at least the 1980s, and probably a lot longer. In a world where 90% of the populace is only sexually interested in the opposite sex, it behooves the remaining 10% to develop the skills to find each other.
=v= People are stubbornly individualistic, though. I live in San Francisco, where even straight people have been known to wear shirts that say, "Nobody Knows I'm Gay." Gaydar doesn't really work, as far as I can tell. Bender's gaydar unit is just about as accurate as the "real" thing. <_Jym_>
