When he joined the writers guild a fiew years ago their already was a David S. Cohen regestered so he regestered as David X. Choen.

In my college theatre department, all of the actors were using initials and middle names to sound more adult, ala M. Emmett Walsh, Samuel L. Jackson, etc. So he started mockingly calling himself George X Rodriguez. When asked what the X stood for, he would say, "My favorite band."

It's actually a Writer's Guild problem. There are 2 David S. Cohen's. So he decided to go with the X.
