Its an odd thing i just saw on episode 6 of season 3. About 3 min. into the show the delivery ship crashes and the empty streets just happen to fill up and create a traffic jam. It's odd cause usually cars only fly by. Well immediatly after a cut they have an establishing shot where a car flies by. I dunno if they did that on purpose but its funny anyways.

That quote illustrates one of the most irritating things I've found in magazines like Popular Science and Popular Mechanics (as well as others.)
They'll have an article about some awesome new technology (like flying cars, for example) and the article will convincingly say that products using those technologies will be available within the next few years, but of course they never are.

I don't think it was on purpose because I think that the writer's just needed a way for the joke to fit. They might think that no one will notice the small imperfections of the show but some are quite noticeable. In the actual physics of the Futurama universe, I don't think there could be such a thing as a traffic jam because all of the vehicles hover above the ground and even at alternating heights. It was probably just overlooked. Hope this helps with your question.
