It's been in Syndication for years in England. Haven't bought the DVD yet though. I f you want it now get a region free DVD player, which is what I did, to get the Simpsons Season 1 for half the price!
actually, it's not been in syndication EVER in the UK, because there's no syndication market. Sky One and BBC2 (I think, or maybe Channel 4) have first and then repeat rights (respectively). It's like syndication, but seeing as there's really only one market, it's not entirely like syndication (which usually relies on a number of local markets).
