Remeber Amy Wong is part of a famous family? Does anyone else think that this will be furhter explored in a future episode.

Of course they won't, why would the do anything like that? The possibility of humor is so limited as to be almost non-existant, thus they will not waste time and effort on something that will be only marginally entertaining. So, no, I don't think they will do anything at all with it.

(Of course, the scary thing would be if this sarcasm turns out to be correct..)

I'm hoping to see more character development of Amy Wong, and if that occurs through a story revolving around her home, then that's fine too.

I wasn't aware of any speculations. Wong is a Chinese name. She curses in Chinese. Where did the Japanese theory come from?

Is it really Chinese? What dialect? She is of "the Mars Wongs", and would have a "Martian dialect" of Chinese. The real question is: just what factors influenced the changes in the Martian variety of Chinese, and how has the language changed as a result? (Yes, I know -- two questions. Deal with it.)

Interestingly, in Futurama, 20th century NYC English has remaind pretty much survived, unchanged, for 1000 years, which is puzzling. I don't mean to sound stupid or ignorant, but could you please EXPLAIN to me EXACTLY how to tell the difference between someone who is Chinese and someone who is Japanese? Is there a foolproof way?

Naturally, there is no foolproof way. The last name is a good indication. Chinese tend to have monosyllabic last names, whereas Japanese tend to have about three or four syllables. As far as features go, in my observation, Japanese tend to have thinner, sharper facial features, while Chinese are usually more rounded.

Of course, all this is specualtion and generalization, since marriages can totally thor off the last name business, and there is so much worldwide travel nowadays that people of Chinese heritage could be actually of Japanese nationality, or American, or Russian, or what have you.
