Pretty good episode, surpassed my low expectations. A great sequence of Twilight Zone spoofs all rolled into one episode, Fry living his dreams, subtle and subversive commentary on homosexuality and homophobia, satire on the Napster contraversy, and of course, Bender's drop-dead hilarious Archie Bunker impression make this one a winner in my book. 3rd act lowered the standard a little, especially the lame Bender/Lucy romance ending, but still a very good, timely episode.

Hmmm...actually I saw it more as a commentary on interracial dating, especially with all of Bender's comments about humans taking all the good robot women. Both are worthy causes, though, so eh, either way it's all good ;)

It wasn't a bad episode, I agree, but the 1st season still has the ones I like the best. Boy, they slammed Napster pretty hard in this episode. Not that it didn't deserve it, but do you think Futurama is starting to become too much of a political venue?

Actually, I took the jokes on the Napster controversy to be more satirical. For example, when Lucy Lui goes on about how they are downloading her image without her permission and therefore stealing the only thing she has left - other than the mile-diameter gold nugget. E.g., Metallica etc are complaing the same way but they are still a bunch of rich bastards.
I liked the joke about where to put your investment money too - and the windy sound in the background when the picture was on the hole. More of a dotcom-in general-commentary on that remark.

I actually thought that was a commentary on inter-racial dating. It seems to be a pretty big controversy in some groups, particularly the Asian woman / white man combination. I've lurked in some Asian news groups where the main topic is "Why won't those white guys leave our women alone?" That Lucy Liu is an Asian also seems to be aimed toward that topic. Bender's "Leave our women alone." attitude seems to have that tone to it too.

I'd say the episode satirizes BOTH of these issues. Homophobia is mocked in the propaganda film, with its "procreation, not recreation" type of message. Bender's comments were a parody of some people's opinions on interracial dating.

the asian woman white man situation is kinda logical to asian women white guys look like giants (taller than usual may subconciously imply good protector) and they are different, possibly curiosity is attractive to white guys asians are mysterious, exotic, petite (youthfulness is the ultimate beauty)
