It's still the 30th century, technically.
Until the year 3001... or so the Germans would have us believe...

What about the "Century 21" Realty company?

Actually the year 3000 would still be the 30th century just as the year 2000 will still be the 20th century. Technically the 21st century starts in 2001. There was no year 0.
Says who?

You know, actually, "Stalin was a pretty mean guy" is an opinion. A *fact* would be "Many people believe Stalin to be a pretty mean guy."
Unless you meant that to be "Stalin was a pretty, mean guy" and I'm not even touchin that one.

There was no year 1, either. Nor was there a year 2, a year 3, a year 4, and so on...all those years were added retroactively when the modern calendar was instituted.
So here's what I propose. There WAS a year 0. It occurred simultaneously with the year 1 BC. (Hey, if all those other years can be added retroactively, what's the harm in adding one more?) That way, all the calendar snobs can celebrate the year 2000 like the rest of we hoi polloi.

They weren't added retroactively. These simply became the new designations for these years with the new calendar. Since the new calendar didn't have a year zero, the stuff that happened in the year before 1 AD occurred in 1 BC.
No. We'll just celebrate the turn of the millenium when it actually occurs, on Jan 1, 2001.
You say tomato, I say to-mah-to.
The year 0 AD (as I envision it) would occur simultaneously with the year 1 BC.
Sounds as thrilling as a wet paper bag.

Talk about decidedly silly calendar making. A year with 2 different numerical designations? OK.

Wouldn't that be like having a 19th century FOX during the thirties?

well, in the late '30s, Fox made so many period films such as "In Old Chicago" (about the 1871 fire) and "The Story of Alexander Graham Bell" that one wag suggested that the studio shold change its name to 19th Century Fox.
Anyway, 20th Century Pictures (founded 1933, merged with Fox two years later) was, I believe, named for the 20th Century Limited, the famed NY-to-LA train...and not after the century itself.

While at their wisdom others wondered, But took one more to make a hundred. Strange at the 18th century's close While light in beams effulgent glows, When bright illumination's ray Has chased the darkness far away, Heads filled with mathematics lore Dispute if two and two make four. Probably not, although have seen several 20th Century Fox pictures recently which also have the name Fox 2000 Pictures, so who knows.
