'Futurama' in the afternoon on TBS

TBS Superstation is bolstering its daytime performance in the advertiser-essential adults 18-34 demographic, by airing popular animation series Futurama and Family Guy in the 2pm ET hour.

The two series have already brought success to Cartoon Network, which is owned by AOL Time Warner - the same parent company as TBS Superstation - in its late-night 'Adult Swim' slot.

Steve Koonin, executive vice president of TBS Superstation and TNT, said: "For the past year, TBS Superstation has been aggressively pursuing young adults through such strong programming initiatives as the 'Non-Stop Comedy Block' and the addition of Dawson’s Creek to the line-up.

"Futurama and The Family Guy have proven to be stellar hits among adults 18-34 for the late-night Cartoon Network Adult Swim crowd, and we are confident they will prove to be equally popular during the afternoons on TBS Superstation."

Nice, but aren't most 18-34 year olds working at that time of day? Put them on just before or just after primetime. These shows were gold for Cartoon Network just after primetime. Why is TBS putting them on when most of the audience consists of housewives and preschool kids?
