My Capsule Review of Bender's Game

I liked it.

I did to. I was a little apprehensive due to the nature of the new material...but in the end it was classic Futurama and insanely funny. I hope they do more after ITWGY.

The writers definitely earned their pay. The frequency and depth of the background jokes were all top notch. The one liners were great, and the plot itself had great gags.

One background joke that I didn't understand was the Mad Hatter's hat. It had a tag that said "5/3". It looked too prominent (for a background joke that was on screen for only a second or two) to have no meaning.

Google revealed that it was both a reference to the original Mad Hatter and a math joke thrown in too. The original Mad Hatter's "10/6" fraction, simplified.

That's the bad part, alright. Just one more DVD and then it might be no more Futurama. I hope the DVDs sell well enough that Faux decides to pay for move movies.

Bender's Game seemed to be selling very well at the Best Buy where I bought my copy. The first two rows in the rack were empty and for a moment I thought it was sold out.

Speaking of buying it instead of just downloading, Bender's anti-piracy feature on the DVD is a scream. "Downloading Often Is Terrible" (DO IT).
