1) You posted, by your own admission, a whopping 211 *Megabytes* of data. This is far too much. Perhaps you have a T1 connection to yourself, but most people have far more modest equipment, and would have to wait more than an hour to download your post. There are some practical problems involved with a 211Mb post. For one, many sites have only a limited space to store incoming news messages. Your post probably crowded out space that would otherwise have been used for "normal" messages. Also, with 593 parts, it's likely that some news servers missed at least one part. You need all of them to see the video, so that means the majority people probably got to see *none* of your post, yet still had the majority of it clogging their news servers.

2) Posting entire episodes is a violation of US copyright law. If Fox gets the idea that people are posting their material to Usenet, they -- or their lawyers -- will start cruising this newsgroup. <alt.tv.futurama> can't be shut down the way a website can, but do you really want that sort of attention?

3) By convention, you shouldn't post binaries to a non-binary newsgroup. Some news servers "opt out" of carrying binary groups to conserve disk space. (Universities and FreeNets do this a lot.) Posting binaries defeats this purpose, and my convince some sysops to yank <alt.tv.futurama> from the list of groups they carry. Now no one can read the group at all.

4) People who are ticked off at you for the above three reasons, might get in contact with your internet service provider. Your ISP could decide to suspend your account, and now you'll be the one who can't read <alt.tv.futurama>.
