captain of the delivery ship - which has to tow that same tanker
One comment about "The Day The Earth Stood Stupid": Nibbler was referred to as "ambassador to Earth", yet he wasn't originally sent to Earth; he was picked up on a dying planet.
I can only guess he contacted his home planet later and was made ambassador. My biggest question is how he got his little spaceship to earth. And surely this retroactive continuity has to cause other problems, like why didn't Nibbler help out when the robots or popplers or Omicronians were attacking earth? Oh well, can't take the plot too seriously.

ya know while i was watching it i thought nibbler made the spaceship here on earth (like the little green baby from that old loony toons cartoon about the dad in the waiting room)
well now we all are going to look at nibbler differently thats what i hate about this episode
too bad they couldn't have sent in some brain slugs (as a form of natural pesticide) and it was lame that it affected robots bender could have really bent up the town but they had to make it be a fry prophecy solo save the wold episode and possibly it was nibbler who found fry back in 2000 and froze him just for this scenario
also that hypnofrog was just annoying
it also brings up a lot of questions about the other episodes with nibbler like why did he have to be saved from being flushed and other nonsense
Did Nibbler actually talk to Fry? (Remember, Leela delivered the message.) I thought they only "talked" to Leela - and as she wasn't under the effects of the brains yet, she should remember everything that happened before her return.

IMO, "Cryonic Women" was just dull, while "Bendless Love" was one of the first episodes I didn't laugh at. "Amazon", "Day The Earth Stood Stupid", and "Parasites Lost" were good, but nothing beats the big three from last season: "Problem With Popplers", "Mother's Day", and "Anthology Of Interests".

Here's another reference. The central plot of the late '80s Lucasfilm computer game Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders involved alien invaders coming to earth with a plot to dumb down humanity. They took over the phone company and installed a machine that caused anyone using the phone to gradually lose their intellectual faculties. At one point Zak McKracken stands and watches the TV newscasters barely able to complete a sentence as they got dumber, just like Fry in Futurama.

It's possible that "title", like their speech and language, was a semi-translation for Leela's benefit. Could have been retroactive as well. Nibbler was carried to Earth, so since he was already there the Nibblonians decided to appoint him ambassador.
I like the theory of Nibbler building his spaceship while on Earth.
It's also possible that the "Nibbler" shadow in Space Pilot 3000 wasn't the Nibbler Leela made a pet out of, but was another Nibblonian. Whoever it was, they were most likely investigating Fry, seeing if his brain was "special". Discovering that it was in fact exactly what they were looking for, the nibblonians then arranged for Fry to get frozen, thus preserving Fry's brain until the evil brains came to dumb down Earth.
I suppose you could wonder why the nibblonians didn't just grab Fry in the 20th century, train him a little and send him to fight the brains. My guess is it was just easier to preserve him till the evil brains came to Earth. Plus we wouldn't have had much of a show the other way.
Yes, but, you see, he was only on that dying planet to be picked up by Leela and taken back to Earth. He couldn't just come to Earth as an ambassador and somehow get into Planet Express - they had to arrange for Leela to think he was a pet.
Let's say Vergon-6 had been colonized by the spacefaring Nibblonians, because of its wide variety of tasty animal life and vast amount of starship fuel. (Presumably, the fuels they use are different from the kind excreted by Nibblonians.) After all the fuel was gone, and they knew the planet was going to implode, they arranged for Fry to visit Vergon-6, by faxing the order to the Professor. They had Nibbler waiting behind, waiting to be saved by Fry's close associate Leela. This does, however raise the question of why "Three-eyed nibbler" or somesuch wasn't on the list of animals that Leela had gotten. Perhaps rather than having been given the list when the order placed with the Professor, Leela just printed out a list of all the indigenous animal life on Vergon-6 from the ship's database. (The Earthpeople who were studying Vergon-6's fauna never found the Nibblonians because Earth's zoologists came there first, and left before the Nibblonians arrived.)
OK, so this seems to me like the best internally and externally consistent theory of Nibbler's place in the show:
1. The Nibblonians were monitoring the course of the Brains long before 1999, and after a comprehensive search, they found the one patchwork-mind that could destroy the Brains. After monitoring Fry and discovering when he was the delivery boy on duty at Panucci's, the Nibblonians placed the order for the pizza under the name I.C.Weiner. An unnamed Nibblonian -- not the Nibbler who Leela found -- forced Fry into the Hawking Chamber.
2. Nibbler came to Vergon-6 for reasons stated in my paragraph, above. It is irrelevant whether he was appointed Ambassador before or after Leela found him.
3. Nibbler either built the spaceship from spare parts at night, while Leela was asleep; or the Nibblonians discreetly provided him with a spaceship and uniform by flying down to his post in two separate ships, meeting with Nibbler, then flying back to their base in one.
Nibbler really is four years old.

I think they're in 3002 now. In episodes which were first aired in 1999, they're in the year 3000, and in episodes aired in 2000, the date is given as 3001. So the show is always 1001 years ahead of the present.
Or 2998. Why is that a problem?

well they counted the rings on his tooth but that could be nibblonian years which each could be over a thousand
also i think the planet they found nibbler on was a depository of nibblonian crap once and the doop found it contained dark matter the fuel they like they mined it all out (like out fossil fuel) and all the life on that planet came from remniant dna on the dark matter so each of those animals on that planet were animnals that nibbloniand have eaten in the distant past(probably to extinction which is why they are only found on that planet) and why nibbler ate them all because they were delicacys
maybe all the dark matter in the universe was made by nibblonians (they have been here long enough to leave a lot of crap) my question is what were they eating 17 yeard before the big bang (maybe tribbles or oompa loompas i mean grunga lungas)although they seem partial to ham
Who gave you that piece of info? Where can I see it? Not that I don't beleive you, but maybe I can find out the ages of other characters in the series..
The Veterinarian in "I Second That Emotion" (2ACV01) Notes the rings in Nibbler's Broken tooth. Four. But the characters assume it marks four years. It probably does not.

So your on drugs then. I see. "Fear of a Bot Planet" is 1ACV05 the fifth episode of the first production run, and the fifth episode ever aired. And did not involve Nibbler, sewer mutants, or bender feeling all of Leela's emotions through an empathy chip on his head. I would recommend you hit a Futurama web site and have a look at an episode guide.
I suggest you use the production codes (The -ACV-- Number) and update your information to the official titles instead of the titles the guy who posted it felt like naming it. It will save any more confusion.

There wasn't just 9 Season 1 episodes, there were 13. Four were holdovers. "ISE" was the first in the second season production.

Bender is, or claims to be four years old in "The Day the Earth Stood Stupid". Nibbler, based on his tooth rings is also four. Prof Farnsworth is either 130 or 140, depending on which time he was lying in "A Clone of My Own". In "My Three Suns", Leela says Fry is 25.
That's the only ages I can remember from episodes. In "Brannigan Begin Again", Leela claims to be 25 but Bender doesn't believe her.
Leela: I don't want to die at age 25 Bender: Unless we hit a time warp, I wouldn't worry about that.
