Zoidberg: I'm sorry, but we couldn't remove it. Farnsworth: It's stuck in there with glue or something, I don't know. Bender: Well this is just great. What's the point of living if I can't say "ass". [gasps] Hey, I didn't blow up! Ass! Ass! Ass! Ass! Ass! All right! I'm back in the saddle. Leela: We couldn't disarm the bomb, so we reset the word that triggers it. Amy: It's from the list of words you almost never say. Bender: That's using your ass. So what's the word? Hermes: We think it's better if you don't know. Bender: Aw, c'mon! I'm not gonna say it. Please! Ooh, is it "please"? Fry: Nope. Bender: Hmm, words I never say. Oh, I know. "Thanks"! Leela: Bender, stop trying to destroy the world. Bender: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Is it "sorry"? No, "funderfull"! "Non-alcholoic"? Everyone: Stop it, mon! Quit it! Enough already! (etc.) [Camera pulls back from Planet Express building] Bender: "Compassion"? "Shrimp toast"? "Antiquing?" [Explosion is heard, screen flashes white then cuts to black with producer's credit.] Bender: [over credit screen] I'm all right. [However, the closed captioning showed the last line as "Hootenanny?"]

This post on Sun, 26 Nov 2000 22:44:49 -0700 would probably sound more commanding if Alan Hamilton wasn't wearing the Yummy Sushi Pajamas:
Farnsworth: We had to go back in time to do it.
(In the background, a picture of "President Al Gore" is fading into a picture of "President George W. Bush". Conrad wearing shirt "My friends went to Disney World and All I got was this Dimpled T-Shirt")
Fry (whispers to Leela): You can take off that makeup. Leela (whispers back): I'll have to get it get it sandblasted.
Thank you for filling us in on the ending. It got interuppted in Atlanta too, just so they could talk about that stupid Florida recount!
Here's a joke: "What do you call a Butterfly with young? A Pregnant Chad! ;)

Here's a better one. "What do you call someone too stupid to vote properly? A Miamian"
Or "What do you call The Dade county elections board? Criminally incompetent"
Hahahah You want every vote to count Gore? How about all the thrown out Ballots in every other state and the rest of Florida? Oh wait Those peoples voted don't matter to you. Their lost votes are less important then the Dade County peoples lost votes.
Something smells really funny about this whole mess.

Gore did suggest a manual recount in all of Florida, and Bush turned him down.

And what about the rest of the U.S.? How many people's votes Didn't get counted because their incapable of anything as simple as understanding a ballot. It all seems like BS to me. At least the way Gore "Argues" his side of it.

You're starting to sound like me. Gore's not arguing his side tho', he's trying to claw his way into power. I'm reminded of what Machiavelli wrote (ok ok only because I read it half an hour ago) : "You must recognize that there are two ways of fighting: by means of law, and by means of force." Al Gore has been fighting to take the presidency, by means of law. He's used every legal strategy he can, but only where it counts. Very hollow and hypocritical in light of the "every vote should count" rhetoric. But then, who knows what might happen if the rest of the country actually got a "fair and accurate" count? Oh well, I've gone on and on in this froup about the inaccuracy (and thus unreliability) of this process enough.
Mike, the rest of the states aren't this close. No need to recount.

How do we know that. How many invalid ballots were thrown out in other states? Shouldn't those invalid ballot's intent's be interpreted just like the ones in Dade? So that "every vote is counted".
We do know that. There is no evidence that any number of questionable ballots could change the outcome of any other state. Do your research.

I did a little homework today, for the hell of it. My mum is fond of saying Gore won the popular vote, as if that's any justification for the shit he's pulling. You know how much he won by? ~300,000 that's how many. 1/3rd of one percent of the vote. And Florida's shown us the electoral process (at least as far as the popular vote goes) just isn't capable of handling such a narrow margin.
Shit he's pulling? You make me chuckle.
If he won by one vote, that's the majority. That's why every vote counts.

If he won by one vote there'd be no way to prove it. That was my point. The system doesn't allow resolution that fine.
Because the percentage differences were beyond the margins of error.

Actually, New Mexico was very very close. Throughout election night I heard that the race in that state stayed under 100 votes for most of the time.
-Fraggler?
New Mexico won't give the election to either candidate. Again, no need to recount if it won't change anything.
And that state was a *huge* part of Bush's plan if he had lost Florida on Election night.
BTW, funniest line yet: Florida voters have electile dysfunction. :-)
