I doubt the same groups are watching KotH AND Futurama. Personally, I can't stand KotH (well, the first episode was funny..), and come back when it's over to watch Futurama. That's like putting Hee Haw and Jeopardy back to back. PJ of course is great animation and lousy story lines.
Start taping Futurama now, 'cause if it stays behind KotH, it'll surely die off.
Tuesday was the 'kiss of death' for KotH, too. PJs did okay there, mainly due to aiming for a completely different audience than Buffy... but Futurama wants the same audience as Ye Olde Wampyr Slayer, and isn't getting it. Maybe Fox's best bet would be to put Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, and KotH on Sunday from 8-10, then X-Files at 10? Who knows. But with a ratings drop that big, the network'll have to do something...

They should move Futurama, and The Family Guy to Sun. after the simpsons (along with That 70's show) and just get rid of the X-files completely. Once they revealed the truth this season, it's been downhill from there.
I see an up-side to the move: for the first two episodes when OFF & Futurama were back to back I was having one helluva time taping the shows. I first had to tape the Simpsons for my Simspsons video collection, then in the last 10 seconds of the credits for OFF eject the tape, pop in the cueued tape for my Futurama collection and record. Since there was no commercial lead-in for Futurama I missed a couple of seconds for the first episode, and a couple of seconds from the credits of OFF in the second week.

And sure, there will be people who don't like Buffy and will watch Futurama. But it's clear that Futurama is going for the Buffy audience. I just don't consider vampire stories to be Science Fiction. Science Fantasy, maybe, like Tolkein or Terry Brooks, but not Science Fiction, like Bradbury or Asimov.
I remember when it first debuted and my first reaction was that I didn't care for the title. The choice of the name "Buffy" was a mistake as far as I'm concerned. A preppy name, contrasted with a sinister title, was an absolute turn off for me. Too 'cutesy'.
BTW, I *love* reading Sci-Fi, but I generally don't enjoy watching it.
That I can agree with. If you've ever felt insulted by a TV commercial, then you are smarter than the "average" viewer.
For the most part, UPN and WB don't even exist in my life. I've seen a few episodes of Dilbert on UPN, and WB airs Seinfeld reruns at 7:30, but beyond that, both networks can fold tomorrow and my life wouldn't change.

I agree it isn't science fiction. And like a -lot- of serial horror/scifi shows, it often has classic story rip-offs, like Frankenstein's Monster and Jeckyl and Hyde and the Mummy and the Werewolf. All those elements have shown up on Buffy, with some being good (Frankenstein's Monster and Jeckyl and Hyde) and some sucking (the Mummy).

KotH struggled before Buffy was even moved to Tuesday. It struggled against JAG, Mad About You and Home Improvement, which is all very stiff competition that always did better than KotH.

Still, regardless of what it spells for Futurama's future, I'm pleased to see such a monstrous drop off in viewership. Maybe someone at FOX will realize how stupid that decision was and make restitution before it's too late.

To me, you can thank the "ever so smart" marketing execs at Fox for the big drop in ratings. Has anyone ever thought that since Futurama did so well on Sundays after the Simpsons, that maybe, since the Simpsons is sort of like Futurama, Futurama would do better in the 8:30 spot? I bet the heads of Fox didn't think of that.
Futurama needs to go back to it's Sunday 8:30 time slot, right after our beloved Simpsons.
