It's not that I didn't like it at all - but by my standard this is the worst episode ever.
The overall story reminded me of the Jetsons, with a little Futurama-humor thrown in. Mot of the Futurama-humor felt like an artificial ingredience, like it was just added later.
I want the good old days of the first two seasons back... plus one or two from Season 3.
Am I the only one who really disappointed?

I like it a lot. Good character stuff dealing with family and the Bender being a mom B plot was hilarious.
Look, i admit the later episodes tend to get a bit more 'serious', or 'emotional'. But there still is humor in them. And good humor! I like to see it as some sort of evolution towards a more 'mature' cartoon. It's not just cheap laughter, there is a message in these episodes, and the 'mise-en-scene' is just great. Jurassic Bark really touched me...
But of course, I do like the older episode even more as the latter ones. But I certainly wouldn't say they're bad episodes.

What the hell drug was this writer/producer/director on? Disappointment rules. With all the wonders of the universe to choose from... why a paper route? Imagination has taken a giant leap backwards and fallen into a pit of mundanity.

The writer, Dan Veber, based it off of his paper route he had as a kid.
The 'B' plot was based on the fact that the Futurama team actually brewed their own beer in the FOX office. The label in the cartoon is the one the art department made for the real beer one day, instead of working.

I liked the episode. The last scene wasn't very good. But the rest of the episode was funny. I remember laughing out loud a couple of times. Maybe it helped that I was a little drunk, but still...

I thought it was middle of the road. Enjoyable, but nothing stellar. Your comment about resorting to jetsons-style humor has some truth to it, though -- pretty cliched storyline.
Personally I saw it as a parody of sorts of those cliche'd storylines...they even had a ref to Paperboy for the NES!
Personally I thought it was hilarious, but I will admit there was something...odd about it. Probably was just weird seeing so Fry, Leela and Bender. Like Mattdm said, it was basically middle of the road. The worst, for me, was "Pharoah to Remember". Not that it was bad, I still enjoyed it quite a bit, but the storyline was ridiculous (even for Futurama), and Bender's antics were a little over the top. Though it was nice they kept the thing about him wanting to be remembered constant; seemed like they were trying to add a little depth to him.

Hmm...I didn't like that ep much either. But Hermes' song more than makes up for it, IMHO. I'm sure that's a parody of another song. Anybody have an idea?

If you look at the production number, 3ACV12, I wonder why they didn't showed it earlier. The production and seasons have pretty much followed, but not this one, it's shown way later than produced. I guess this episode isn't the production team favourite one either.

Does the production team even have a say in the airing order? I think the producers are really upset FOX decided to air the episodes out of order, it causes continuity errors (Herme's son appears in Tales of Interest 2).
