Well, it looks like some major ISP's are picking up the Futurama NG, over some of the whining by the Usenet cabal over its creation. At least one major national ISP has added it.
alt.tv.futurama is available on Prodigy now

Just curious here, but I've been following (trying to follow) the futurama ng issue on alt.config. As I gather it, the NG has some opposition, yet it seems to exist. What are the chances of someone pulling out some different lengths of wire and hanging this NG in its tracks? I.e., seeing as how its mildly populated already, is there any danger of me waking up tomorrow and *gasp* finding it gone?

The alt.* hierarchy on Usenet is essentially anarchic. Once a newsgroup is created, it is immortal. Various ISP's can add it, or delete it, as they see fit. On my ISP, they in fact added it, then deleted it when one of the Cabal decreed it should not exist, and then put it back on the server when I complained. If you can get your ISP to add alt.tv.futurama, it'll likely stay there as long as it keeps getting a substantial number of posts.
how can this be? I don't get it... once it has been created it's always there cannot be deleted...then how will they ever get rid or Old relic newsgroups? is this only for alt.*?
