Street date for US Futurama DVD

Meanwhile, "Futurama: The Complete First Season" will street on March 25. Also a four-disc set, the release features all 13 of the series first season episodes (again remember that four of the episodes produced for its first season did not air until its second season) as well as commentaries by the cast and crew over every episodes. Deleted scenes, a featurette, animatics for "Space Pilot 3000," scripts and storyboards for "Space Pilot 3000," and an interactive still gallery round out the extra features on the set. Both releases feature 4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby 2.0 surround tracks. The M.S.R.P. for each is $49.95. Amazon.com should feature pre-orders for both sets shortly.

four-disc set? that doesn't sound right. the region 2 box is 13 eps on 3 dvd's...

I was thinking the same thing. All the extras sound the same, too... Maybe they upped the bitrate of the commentary tracks so they don't sound like they were recorded in a bathroom, like the ones on the R2 discs do :)

Well the R2/UK box set has subtitles for English, French, Italian and Dutch....

That reminds me, in the episode "A Clone of My Own", Professor Farnsworth mentions his universal translator which only translates into "some dead incomprehensible language" which turs out to be French - any idea what they changed that too in the French version of that episode? :)

Is the Critic a product of 20thCentury Fox? If it is, then they certainly ought to offer a DVD set. Four disks should cover the entire series nicely.

The Simpsons have been edited for syndication (not necessarily on Fox as you mentioned) but are you certain about The Critic? Seeing as Comedy Central has no reason for additional commercial time as a syndicated show might I can't see any reason for the episodes to be edited....

Can you provide an example of a Critic episode with a missing scene or two? After viewing the Comedy Central versions, I and several other folks over at the Digital Archive Project (www.dapcentral.org) have come to the conclusion that Critic eps are unedited. If you have evidence to the contrary please let me know.
