Was I the only one who thought this segment was the funniest? I also wasted many valuable quarters on video games in the 70s and 80s, but I still thought Wizzen was the funniest. I was busting up the whole time. When Zoiberg showed up in the Taxi, "and I'm the other guy!" I liked the Professor's head joke, even though I saw it coming. I didn't see Leila's wish ahead of time though.

The movie "Nothing Sacred" became a sequel to "Wizard of OZ". Throughout the show they kept referring to the characters as "The lion, the Tin Man and whatever the hell the other thing is".
As soon as Zoidberg said that I immediately thought of that. I don't know if it was a reference or a coincidence. Mad movies didn't run for very long, but it was hilarious.

No, I felt that the last segment beat the others, hands down. The other two were good, the second was really good, but esoteric points aren't just the only thing that makes a story great, it needs more than that.
I too played videogames in the late seventies and early eighties, with my walkman in that latter decade, so the references were quite clear to me. It was good to have Lrrr back for once, as I really enjoy the Omicrons. :)
I preferred the last segment due to its parody of "The Wizard of Oz", the colours and dreamlike world it was representing, and its story was far more solid than the other two, and yes, it was also funnier, with many great gags, too.
I did hope that the first segment, the Bender one, could have been told better, as it had great potential: robot becoming human. It was a good story, and I liked it, but felt that I was short-changed... it deserved to be a bit better.

My favourite was Defender. I still play a PC version sometimes, but it's just not the same when you're not surrounded by a cloud of carcinogens. :)
