According, to http://www.cartoonresearch.com in Jerry Beck's San Diego Comics Convention report, Futurama will be joining the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Hopefully, this will give it the exposure and popularity that the dummies Fox hasn't.

Hopefully, CN will find a way to show Futurama with fewer commercials, so they won't have to cut the episodes like they do with "The Simpsons" in syndication.

This is really odd. I was there at the Comic Con, talked to Matt Groening for about 15 minutes, went to the Futurama 90 minute panel and no one involved mentioned anything like this at all!!!

If Mr. Beck is correct, I think the move to Cartoon Network would a good thing for "Futurama." I think one of the reasons (aside from bad scheduling) for the show's under-performance on Fox is that it's a show with a "niche" appeal. Such shows don't last long on the broadcast nets, but thrive on cable channels (like Cartoon Network) that have a specialty focus.

A couple of questions, though:
1) When does this start -- before or after the series concludes its run on
   Fox?
2) Will we be seeing new episodes, or just the ones we've already seen?
   I presume that if "Futurama" runs on Fox and Cartoon simultaneously,
   that Fox will get the new shows and Cartoon the reruns, but what about
   after Fox drops "Futurama"?
3) If there are to be new shows on cable, will "Futurama" be retaining much
   of the original staff that made it such an excellent show the first time
   around?

I'd say while air-season 5 is still airing on FOX. Since CN's Adult Swim will be heading for a weeknight timeslot soon enough, CN will most likely use it to premiere the new timeslots.

Right now, just reruns. CN will hold syndication to the existing show, which also means the door is open for region 1 VHS/DVD distribution. That also makes me wonder WHO would be the distributor. After FOX drops Futurama? Who knows. CN could pick it up for a 5th season (5ACV).

It's CN, so they'd WANT them to retain their staff. Not to mention the animators (Rough Draft Studios), who already animate a number of CN shows.

Yeah, I don't believe it for a second! This would've been the FIRST thing they would have said at the Comic-Con at the Futurama panel (with over 1,000 people in attendance).

Though Matt DID say that Futurama WILL survive one way or another. He mentioned the possibility of a movie, but did NOT say any other possibilities (including Adult Swim).

Doubt it. Boomerang is for classic cartoons only.
