New fashion?

Noticed the new fashion of Y3k? Look the principal at Mars University, the news reporters on sqrt2 news, Zap Brannigan, Kif, President McNeal, Residents of Omicron Persei 8, Amy's Father, And even Hermies (also note at the 2980 olympics). They wear them with uniform, and plain clothes. Look at their shoulders. It's like something out of Star Trek, but could this be the fashion of 3000?

Well, Matt Groening quoted in something I read that over time all the people of oriental backround (PC) dressed up as cowboys. That's why Amy's parents wear those clothing.

And also, as Mr. Thackeray (played by Sidney Poitier) said in the movie 'To Sir With Love:' The hairstyle you have today, is the same they had a long time ago, you are not inventing a new look, it's just been rediscovered. (At least, that's how I remembered him saying it).

Maybe some of those clothing styles went out of fashion, I mean as in episode #1, while Fry was frozen, did we not see a mideval society emerge only to be destroyed by UFO's again? Maybe they just rediscovered these types of clothing styles.

No, it's sort of like a homage to the 50s and 60s Sci-fi. where there were round rockets, rings around everything, and of course, the Jetsons-esque clothes with the rings around the shoulder.

The other trend is one-piece clothes. Some of the people at Mars University had school sweaters that had been extended into body-stockings. Also sad.

I wouldn't say it was sad. The rings on the shoulders are cool but...
