Oh, you're talking about the syndication theme. In the original, "the professor and Maryann" followed "the movie star."

Besides, in context, "the rest" consisted only of the professor and Maryann, so since the target of the question was a member of "the rest," it might not have been entirely appropriate to use "the rest" to refer to others on the island.

The theme song changed between the first and second seasons, actually. I was watching the show at the time in first run.

Aside from the fact the the later version scans better, somebody probably realized the inanity of "the rest" being only two people. Then again, despite growing up in Los Angeles, I have never been able to make sense of decisions made by the television or movie industries.
