Today's my 40th birthday (11/30/2000). Why am I stuck in the middle of nowhere a bit beyond the middle of my life? Why hasn't InterStellar OverDrive caught on to be the cult classic that it should have been? Why hasn't anybody in school or in comics lent a hand or lifted a finger to help out, or even been on my side?

Except for the failed first series InterStellar OverDrive from '89-'90, none of these books were nationally distributed. Captain Saucer came out erratically between 1982 and 1989, since it was a spare time project. We're talking the very small end of small press here. There are may be a few Rip Off Press ash-cans and posters in the random bargain box from the still-born 1995 InterStellar OverDrive revival.

It's a nice picture, and happy b-day and all, but there's something I've been meaning to ask you. Who are these characters you draw? Are they your own creation?
Mostly Flexia Bast and the other cast members of InterStellar OverDrive.
BTW- I do feel the InterStellar OverDrive's predecessor, Captain Saucer, was an unsung influence on Futurama (e.g.: Leela being an amalgam of Flexia and Polly Phemus).
