Short Episodes??

OK, has anyone noticed the episodes on Cartoon Network end at an early time? When I watch it, it seems to be finished at :22 after the hour.

Was the show this short of Fox? IF so, I doubt CN would miss the opportunity to shove in some extra commercials to fill the time. Is CN trimming the episodes (as is done with most shows like The Simpsons in syndication)? If so, again, why don't they fill the extra time with commercials? Right now they seem to use that time to bastardize Hanna-Barbara properties.

Anyone else notice the episodes end at an early time?

Yup, I've noticed that too -- however, it should be noted that CN's airings only have two commercial breaks, while the original broadcasts (IIRC) had three. Thus, the FOX airings finished much closer to the half-hour. As far as I am aware, the episodes on CN have *no* syndication cuts.

I always thought uncut US shows were around the 22 minute mark WITHOUT commercials....

Yeah, good point...I dunno. If there *are* any cuts, I haven't heard them mentioned in this NG. I don't own any Futurama DVDs, but on my Simpsons DVD sets, I believe that the episodes, commercial-free, are right around 22-23 minutes.

Correct. Nothing has been cut from any Futurama episodes on CN. I've recorded them all on my computer, and without the commercials they've all been amazingly consistent time-wise at 22:30. They end earlier in the half-hour because instead of three commercial breaks there is only one, and the last five minutes or so of the half hour contains commercials that would have been seen during the episode. I love CN.

Ah, that answers it. I thought there were two commercial breaks on the CN episodes.

I have to hand it to CN for airing these episodes uncut. Now the next question is...how far will CN go with the syndicated episodes? Will they run right up to where FOX left off? And will they air the "unaired" or "West-coast only" aired episodes as well? Now that Futurama has been officially cancelled on FOX, I don't expect the remaining unaired episodes to appear on FOX. That was pretty much confirmed last Sunday when they showed two King Of The Hill episodes before the Simpsons.
