Be Kind To New Jersey Week

This week is National Be Kind To New Jersey Week. (I swear I am not making this up.) So, in honor, here's a recap of all the New Jersey references from the first season of Futurama. (Yes, this has been posted before, but it's a special occasion!)

Bwahahaha! What's next? Politeness day in New York? Use public transit day in Los Angeles? Low cost real estate week in San Francisco? No gambling day in Las Vegas? Be kind to tourists week in Florida? Outbreeding week in Alabama? A week-long museum exhibit in Seattle displaying the hypothetical evidence for the existance of the sun? Face it, New Jersey is ridicule fodder.

Answer me this:

1) Can you actually -get- a 2 bedroom apt _anywhere_ within a 30-mile radius of the "nice" part of the area?

• Really?

• Really?!

• Without knowing the owner?

• In less than 9 months looking?

• For less than $2000?

As a case in point, my _studio_ (one room, one bathroom (small), and one (small) "kitchen" area) rented for $525 4 years ago... the same unit in my building lists > $900 now, and studios are plentiful.

San Francisco's great... but too many damned people know that!

[Honest question] Is San Diego really that bad now? I used to vacation down there growing up, and wouldn't mind moving some time... but if it's really awful... [/honest question]

I was actually referring specifically to the La Jolla area. But, technically, I'm sure this discussion pretains to the nice part of virtually any city and/or its suburbs. I mean the cost of living outside Baltimore is even out of sight lately...

I can be nice to New Jersey for 7 seconds...7 minutes is possible too...I even have a chance of making it to 7 hours....but 7 days...I don't think that is possible....and I was even born in NJ...
