In the August 2 TV Guide Insider column, there's a brief piece about the show's coming to an end on Fox next month, but David X. Cohen says Cartoon Network has shown interest in airing newly-produced episodes some time in the future. How long a wait there would be, whether or not they can measure up to the shows done by the original group, and whether or not it actually comes together remains to be seen, of course.

As for the crew, the LA animation business isn't that big, and people are always looking for new projects to work on. if Futurama were to be resurrected, they could probably get 85% of the crew back together.

Futurama is owned by 20th Century FOX, not the FOX Network. Production companies and networks are supposed to act separately...and they always sell shows to other networks...like Friends is owned by WB, but airs on NBC...if the price is right, FOX could pay to have more episodes made...or sell the right to someone else to pay to have more episodes made as long as they received a residual from each one...

I don't think this will be so much of a problem. After all, Comedy Central let Sci-Fi make new episodes of MST3K and Showtime let Sci-Fi make new of Stargate SG-1 and those two shows were more popular than Futurama I think. There is no reason why Fox would not let CN make more episodes of Futurama. Besides. I thought Groening owned Futurama or at least had some power over it.
They should concentrate on getting the original VAs first and formost. Then they should focus on the writers and key animators.
Yep, now that you mention it, I thought was the reason FUX, er, FAUX, I mean FOX <spit> started crapping on Futurama. Or maybe ownership and control are two different things?
Anyway, whatever the reason, or possible obstacles, the possibility of a new season of Futurama is the best news I've had all week.
I always thought that Matt Groening owned Futurama (unlike the Simpsons) and that's why Fox has such a problem with the show. I thought Fox had a big problem regarding control issues and that's why they were giving it such bad promotion and time slots (when they did actually air the show).

Yea I believe once FOX airs "The Devils hands..." Then what remains of Curiosity Company is free to shop the show out if they like since it is their intellectual property.
