This show needs help...

....they'd best get some Simpson's-type hilarity going or Futurama's gonna be a goner.

First of all, the main character (cannot even remember his name) is not funny. Fine, so he's a straight man for Bender. The cyclops (again, sorry, haven't got her name yet either) is not funny. Okay, so SHE'S a straight man for Bender.

Bender is somewhat funny. Kind of a cookie-cut of an obnoxious drunk, but he has potential. I loved the "Hey look I'm a head" song while his body picked Amy's pocket. And the folk-singer dream has potential, although a patent rip-off of Cartman's anal probe episode from South Park (I love to singa, etc.).

Speaking of Amy, what is this? ANOTHER straight man for Bender? I mean, the whole pounding on the crane machine and screaming Asian curses was worth a chuckle, but now we got THREE un-funny characters, and one semi-funny one.

Yes yes yes, this is premature, perhaps. Only two episodes to work with, but I don't count the first one because it was a complete yawner.

WHEN is Groenig gonna learn? The Simpson's that are the funniest are TWISTED! This is animation! No more morality plays, please. It doesn't even have to make sense! They need to hire writers who are not interested in PLOT, or STORY, or anything beyond "how can we make the viewer's laugh until they pee their pants?"

Think about your favorite Simpson's episodes. Futurama has a promising premise and setting; they'd best get some funny in there somewhere.

I thought it was hilarious, especially the wooden sets, and the line "he used space travel as a metaphor for beating his wife" and the whole ralph kramden/jackie gleason thing...

look, i saw this as a second pilot, or co-pilot, if you will, introducing more characters that will play into the larger scheme of things, they probably will have a simpsons sized character cast

also, wasnt 'moon patrol' a video game? the moon police were labeled moon patrol. and mortal kooperation...

i found both the simpsons and futurama very entertaining, and funny

Okay for starters, Futurama is not THE SIMPSONS. It isn't supposed to be like THE SIMPSONS, and second, it just started and you are finding fault wiht it already? C'mon. I love watching The Simpsons, but it's time for something new, and that's just what Futurama is. So lay off of the show. You probably didn't find it funny because it was over your head. Personally, I found pretty funny.

Who even said she was going to be a main character? There is also a little known writing tool called "character development". Give the characters time to grow before you slag them.

Well said. I can't believe some people that complain about a series demise based on an episode they feel inadequate. The big decider of an episode's longetivity is the ratings. Futurama will stay, whether someone thinks it's funny or not, because obviously there are people that like it.

You are basing your enjoyment of the show on how much you laugh. I'm sorry, because you're missing the point of Futurama. Comparing it to the Simpsons is inevitable, but unfair.

So you're telling us that the Simpson's doesn't have a story, plot, and an underlying moral to each episode?

I'm not trying to put your opinions down, but you need to relax. Give the show some time before forecasting it's demise.

Actually, after 10 seasons, "The Simpsons" is pretty much all played
out, and really only surviving on the popularity it's already built.
People no longer watch it because it's funny, but simply because it's
"The Simpsons".
