The whole point of the graverobbing was to reclaim the clover which had been buried.

Just what exactly the talking heads are is unknown. They could be something like androids, not supposed to be the actual people's heads, just a somewhat less creepy interface to various important individuals' repositories of knowledge, something like Johnny Mnemonic's ghost in the machine.

A better question might be what in the hell is "the first man on Mars, a feat that has never since been equaled" supposed to mean.

Maybe the Manned mars mission was cut even worse then Apollo. Jack Schmidt: a man who walked on the moon, a feat that has never since been equaled. Sure some time in the future people will go to the moon again but that statement is still no less true when I wrote it. Maybe Philip J. Fry went to Mars and nobody went back for some time after.

Uh, Gene Cernan got back in last. Besides that, he wasn't the "first" man on the moon either. It's hard to be the first man to do something someone else has done before.

Does anyone remember who spent the longest on the moon? OK, in this group probably a few people do, but in general? Who found the 'Genesis rock'? etc. But almost everyone remembers that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first. And since their landing, no one else has been the first to land on the moon.

I think it would be more accurate to say he was the last person to step out onto the moon, which doesn't mean his was the last foot on it. :-P
