A few Futurama questions

Hi, I'm Lee, a Futurama fan (since it first appeared) with a few questions.

1. On Leela.com.ar it lists several unaired episodes in the Upcomming Episodes section. How many of those episodes were actually made?

2. Is there any particular reason why CN is showing Futurama somewhat out of order? At least as the order on Leela.com goes.

3. Is there any chance of CN commissioning new Futurama episodes? They probably have the budget to do so. I'd imagine that they could show a new epsiode on Sunday and old episodes on the Weedays.

All of them were made, although they haven't aired yet.

When FOX sold Futurama into syndication, there were presumably some limits set so that FOX can still make money off of eps they haven't milked dry yet. The gaps are episodes that FOX still has the rights to. Sometime at the end of this season, CN should be able to air all of the episodes in the correct order.

They don't have the budget to do so. If you look at their original shows, one thing that drives them is their incredibly small budgets, especially the late-night fare. Futurama brings in on CN a small fraction of the ratings that it used to on FOX

Besides, all of the art crew and probably most of the writing crew have moved on, being out of jobs for a year now.

Regarding the order they've been in on CN, they are in order, really. Fox actually has aired many OUT of order, even managing to spread episodes created for the third production season throughout the third and fourth seasons, even holding off the 12th episode made for the third season (out of 22) until the 5th season. While CN can't show that episode yet, otherwise all of the first three production seasons are airing exactly in order right now, with the three 4th production season episodes they have rights to airing in order but not in the context of the rest of the episodes they were produced with.

Futurama has tripled the ratings for CN's 11 PM timeslot. Original episodes could garner even higher ratings. But would it be cost effective? Paying for syndication rights for repeats is a much less costly endeavor than buying new episodes of a series.

It depends how expensive Futurama episodes are too make and how much of money CN makes I guess. Most of CNs original programming seems to be rather low-budgeted with the exception of He-Man. If CN makes enough money from advertisers and Futurama remains one of the best shows on CN, Futurama could get new episodes if the team behind it will do new episodes.

The currently unaired episodes will be on the Season 4 DVD box set. Futurama is being released in 4 box sets, with the episodes in order according to their production order.

FOX still is going to air at least some of them, perhaps all. It's also very likely that CN will air these as well, since I believe CN bought the syndication rights to all Futurama episodes.
