Did anybody hear those stupid "Cryonic Woman" commercials (I know they were on in the Seattle area at least) where they bleeped the word "ass" from Bender's line? Has our PC society gotten to the point where "ass" is comparable with the kind of language heard on Jerry Springer?
In commercials, maybe. But otherwise I've never heard it bleeped, and the last twenty years have clearly shown that MORE curse words are being allowed on TV more frequently than before.

This is kind of on the same lines, but in commercials for the movie "What Women Want", Helen Hunt says "Oh God, I just looked at his crotch!" When I saw the movie, she didn't say crotch but she said penis. I always thought slang terms were more offensive then terms you LEARN IN SCHOOL, such as the proper name for an organ. I can see why they used crotch instead, but penis isn't that bad either.

I remember the movie E.T. The Extra Terrestial when little Elliot called another boy "penis breath". Bart: Hey, boy, you want to play fetch?
[SLH looks up, tired, then puts his head back down]
Aw. Me and Santa's Little Helper used to be a team, but he
never wants to play any more since his bitch moved in.
Marge: Bart, don't ever say that word again!
Bart: Well, that's what she is. I looked it up.
Marge: Well, I'm going to write the dictionary people and have that
checked. Feels like a mistake to me...

Bart: So, any idea where this bastard lives?
Homer: Bart!
Bart: His parents aren't married are they?
It's the correct word, isn't it?
Homer: I guess he's got us there.
Marge: Mmm...
Bart: [singing]
Bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard,
bastard bastard!
Marge: Bart!
Homer: Bart Baart!
