More New Jersey bashing on Futurama!

I finally got a chance to watch the season finale today. Why was I not surprised at the third New Jersey reference in only nine episodes? Is New Jersey the ONLY state to have been mentioned in a Futurama episode?

[1ACV09] Fry: Unbelievable! An actual, factual, Robot Hell! Leela: Who would have thought Hell would really exist? And that it would be in New Jersey?!

One of the writers must be from Philadelphia or NYC...but you know, we love the publicity!

New Jersey is just fun to bash. Even George Carlin does it. Carlin: "What's it called now? The Garden State?... Sure! If you're growing smokestacks."

I wonder why NJ's supposedly so fun to bash? It really just makes the bashers out to be fucking idiots. I live halfway between NYC and Philly, in Hunterdon County NJ, and it's probably one of the most beautiful places in the country. Besides, George Carlin is so old he has to jump on SOME bandwagon. I mean, Christ, the guy plays Vegas. That's how you KNOW you're out of it. cas

When you mention NJ to people, they don't think of Hunterdon County, or any place remotely nice. They think about Newark, Jersey City, Atlantic City, and a sea shore where toxic waste and discarded needles wash up on shore.

No one even remembers the Bill Cosby tourism commercials.
