I've been working my way through season 5. Is it me or did the show lose a bit of steam this season compared to seasons 1-4? I'm not feeling the hilarity.

Every episode guide I've seen divides the original show into five seasons: epguides, IMDB, tv.com, etc.

Production season 4 was split up and broadcast (out of order) across two broadcast seasons, but broadcast seasons are superficial. Production seasons are what counts, because it is between production seasons that you tend to have changes in writing staff, show runners, directors, and so on.
Wikipedia gets it right: 4 seasons.

I was trying to guess at the original poster's meaning -- a lot of episode guide sites still focus on the broadcast seasons (although I think everything is better in production order).
