I don't remember exactly how many have been on, but I think that it has only been eight or nine episodes so far. Aren't there supposed to be thirteen episodes all together this season? Does that mean that Fox is holding back some episodes? The did this last year with The Simpsons. I guess that it is so near the end of summer they can have a short run of new episodes to help their ratings. I would like to see those episodes now, but at least it gives me something to look forward to.

What's got me more upset was that they replaced next week's rerun of the first episode with an hour long special on Train Wrecks (one of those snuff-tv shows done in the vein of "When Animals Attack 3" and "World's Scariest Shootouts 2").
I mean, I was hoping I could get it on tape, without commercials this time (that, and I need to get 1ACV07 on tape again because my dad changed the channel while the TV was taping).
But when they say "season finale", they mean exactly that until the Fall. Yes, Fox is holding back.
One thing I gotta ask, who can I talk to so I can protest those awful snuff-tv reality shows? I mean, if I can stave off Fox having televised executions for a couple years, I'm gonna do it.

Where did you hear this? I would think they would have the show in August, which is when they usually move shows to their new time slots so people will get used to the new time before the new season begins. (Fox did this with "The Simpsons" when it moved to Thursdays in 1990, and again when they moved it back to Sundays in 1994 - when I was on a month's vacation, so I missed the second airing of an episode that had been interrupted the first time to announce Jackie O's death.)

Episodes are held back from every season to act is a kind of buffer while the show's staff gets the next season production going.
To add: Since it takes between 6 to 10 months to complete one episode, it's possible, due to production schedule, that those "hold-over" episodes won't be completely finished before the Fall of the following season.

I did read where Groening said that they had finished the thirteen episodes and had even started working on the second season, and this was still before it had been picked up for next year, which shows his confidence in the show. I don't really mind that they are holding back some episodes, but its kind of dumb to call this the season finale when there are numerous episodes from this season yet to come. Then again, why does the lable season matter anyway? When they're on, they're on, so I'm going to sleep. 'Night Mommy.
