Part 2
Fry's Days Off --------------
Scene 7: --------
Bender, with a dozen of colorful mardi grass necklaces, and the professor are walking down the side walk. A parade is in progress.
Prof: "Wonderful. How this takes me back to the days of my youth. I was just a boy during the last grate storm. While my parents conducted experaments on the local flora and fauna, nanny would take me for walks. We would stop to watch street performers and eat strange food at the Shriners picnics. Then one day shy mysteriously disappeared. All I have of those days are my memories and this."
Professor fansworth looks sadly down at his diamond ring.
Bender: "Say, boss, whadda ya say we get a couple of drinks."
Prof: "Well, we are celebrating."They take the two steps to meet a street vender.
Prof: "I'll have an elderberry soda please."
Bender: " And I'll have one of those Jovian ales I've always heard talk
about."
Prof: "Now Bender, I'm not sure that's a vary good idea."
Bender: "Stop worrying and live a little."Bender receives a bottle almost as large as himself. After doing his darndest , he finally gets the cap off. Releasing the huge air pressure in the bottle makes him go flying through the air, free and easy.
Scene 8: --------- Leela and Titanius stand together on a balcony, their hands almost touching. The great forests of clouds are in the distance, directly below is the expansive Jovian metropolis filled with reveling aliens and humans. A short distance away Bender flies past.
Titanius: "I'm so glad you chose to join me in my palace on cloud 9.
You fill
these empty halls with your vary life."
Leela: "I only wish I hadn't hesitated. It so much nicer here then
that horrible
motel on cloud 3916."
Titanus: "And the floats come right past the window."Just then a huge, colorful alien comes floating past. Titanius slaps tentacles with him.
Titanius: "Looking Good Al." AL winks back.
Leela: "I feel I could stay here forever. If it weren't that this place
soon will be
under several miles of liquid metallic hydrogen."
Titanius: "And if I didn't have such responsibilities to my people, I
would
gladly risk erupting into a gigantic fireball in your earth atmosphere to be
with you." Leela: "Thats the most romantic thing a gassed based being has ever
said to me."
Titanius: "A toast then."Robot maids bring them drinks. A glass of Champaign for Leela and a chalice of something bubbling for Titanius.
Titanius: "To the grandest love. Forbidden love."
They clink glasses, causing an explosion.
Scene 9 --------
Bender, screaming, comes to a landing on a soft cloud bush at the top of a hill. Bouncing off the bush he looks around. He sees something on the ground that he bends over to pick up.
Bender: "My lucky day, a dime. What's this? I don't perspire"
Bender whips a drop from his forehead. We hear distant thunder and a silvery drizzle start.
Bender: "That's my cue, back to the ship."
Bender takes a step and starts sliding down the now slick hill and through the barrier. He stands for a second. His neck bends, then he's crushed flat by the atmosphere. His head is in profile on his flat round body giving him the look of a coin. Along comes a wall-eyed jovian dog.
Bender: "Oh noo. Scat. Bad dog. Sit."
The dog picks him up and brings him to his alien master. He throws Bender like a frisbee.
alien: "Ok Rexulax, that's the last time, we must go now."
The huge aliens piles into a tiny, open toped car. Rexulax, with Bender in his jaws jumps in and they go.
Scene 10 ---------
Leela and the professor are inside the door way of their ships hanger. (Which incidentally resembles the hanger door on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back). Outside people and aliens are rushing to get to their ships. In Leelas hand is a box with pair of long antenna.
Prof: "Have you detected any sign of Bender."
Leela: "No. And the storms starting to pick up. I don't think we can
wait much
longer if we want to get out any time this century." Prof: "Are you sure that's not what you want. You and Titanius did
make for a
handsome couple."
Leela: "We've said our good byes, and Titanius is already building
his
cocoon. Besides, spending a century in an atmospheric bottle on a
bureaucratic
giants mantle is no life for me. No matter how nice a guy he is."
Prof: "Such are the fortunes of love. Now, keep scanning, and
I'll go get us
some refreshments."The professor wanders over to a Frutopia vending machine and puts in his money. Out comes two bottles and his change.
Prof: "Great Jovien jellied worms! What is this."
Out of the change return comes the flattened Bender.
Bender: "Keep your shirt on Professor. I just had a little walk on the wild side. No permanent damage done."
Prof: angry, "I had another nickel coming."
Scene 11: ----------
Fry has a grim look on his face. He is sitting in a wheel chair. The nurse-bot is feeding him mush. He is dressed in bunny pajamas. The sponge is asleep at his feet.
Nurse: talking as if to a baby, "Won't you take just a teeny eany bite."
Fry keeps his lips pressed and resists the food.
Nurse: "It's liver and brussel sprouts."
Just then Leela with Bender under her arm and the professor walk in.
Prof: "Heavens no! Not my bunny pj's!"
Leela: "Just what's been going on here."Fry: "She sang me folk songs, made me eat healthy food and she squeegeed my, ah,"
With his eyes Fry looks down at the Squeegee who is now alert.
Fry: "and she squegeed my windows."
Leela: "How could you. That's a job for robots of the homeless."
Nurse: "Not any more. I'm taking care of all Fry's needs now. We don't
need the
three of you getting in the way of his recovery."The nurse starts walking towards them, her arms outstretched. The sponge jumps at Leela, but using Bender , she deflects it to the Professor and they struggle. Leela tosses Bender at the nurse-bot, sending her against the wall. Leela grabs Fry's chair and makes a run for the ship. They get to the top of the loading ramp.
Fry: "I think we're safe. But we can't leave the others to that inhuman
fiend."
Leela: "Your right, I'll have to go back. Close the bay door after me."A hand grips Leelas' shoulder from behind, and lifts her up. Nurse: "Too late. You should never under estimate the power of a bata series companbot. I will use your ship to take Fry somewhere we can be alone forever."
With that she kicks Leela down the ramp.
Fry: "Oh great. Kidnaped by an overly possessive robot again. Don't you see Nurse Bot, I'm a human being. I need to be among my own, imperfect kind. I need to be free to wallow in my own crapulence. Your love and tender care will destroy the happy me you know and cherish. This can never work."
Nurse: "Nonsense, it will work. Now, how do close this door? There's nothing in your mind scans that tell me how to work even the simplest controls.
Leela: "Here's another thing they didn't teach you in home economics."
Leela stands at the door way in the Exoskeleton Heavy Lifter.
I won't go into the fight. Everyone has seen the end to that Aliens movie. The same thing happens here. You know, extra set of teeth, flame-thrower. Only this time Fry is the little girl and instead of that millennium guy getting cut in half, Squeegee gets wrung dry. Continuing...
Fry wheels up to the anti-gravity ray gun storage locker.
Fry: "I know just what to do."
He grabs a riffle and takes aim. Nurse-bot picked up the slush ball Bender dropped and is ready to throw it at Leela. Fry fires. Having the thing pointed backward however, he is lifted into the air and is more helpless then ever. Nurse-bot throws the ball. Leela deflects it with her Exoskeleton arm causing it to spark and short out. The ball flies into Fry and knocks him into an escape capsule. The door shuts automatically and counts down. 3, 2, 1, Fry's capsule blasts off and goes through the roof. Leela's Exoskeleton has lost power and is immobile. Nurse-bot, more deranged and angry then ever, is coming closer, closer, closer. Leela, unable to move, shrinks as Nurse-bot comes to within inches. Nurse-bot suddenly straitens up. What sounds like a recording plays.
Nurse-bot message: "Thank you for using Auto Mat health aids. However your rental period is over. If you are still unwell, please insert coins to purchase extra time. If not, then this unit is programed to return to the nearest Auto Mat Health Center. We pride ourselves on the maximum quality of care and hope this unit served you well."
The companbot sprouts a rocket pack and takes off.
Leela: "Things have sure been taking abrupt changes lately. I wonder where Fry went."
Fry's stiff body, floating in complete blackness, tumbles head over heals in slow motion. Until, upside down, he gets to the fridge. He opens the door, grabs a Slurm soda and starts drinking. Leela walks in and turns on the kitchen light.
Leela: "Fry. Stop using that anti-gravity ray or you'll never regain your strength."
Leela flips Fry upright and grabs the ray gun. 3 seconds later he's back on the ground. They start walking out.
Fry: "By the way, I wanted to thank you for rescuing me from the
Nursinator."
Leela: "Don't mention it. I wasn't in any real danger. She was
programed to
heal, not hurt."
Fry: " Yha, but what about when she had her hands around your neck?" Leela: "Actually she was giving me a massage."
Fry: "SHE GIVES MASSAGES?"
Leela: "Great ones, just ask Bender."The door opens revealing Bender laying on his front. He is still flat, but now in the right shape. Nurse-bot is giving him a rolfing.
Fry: "You brought her back? But she's crazy."
Bender: "Sure is, But where else are you going to find this kind of
devotion for
25 cents a day. But you shouldn't feel bad for loosing your perfect women,
not that you
have compatable equipment anyhow. She has a friend just your type, and for
no extra
charge."Squeegee comes bounding through and jumps up on Fry. He holds it away from himself with both hand. The others are having a laugh while the sponge is lashing it's tongue, trying to give Fry a big, dog like lick on his face. One of Benders legs snaps off in Nurse-Bot's hands. Fry throws Squeegee onto what would be the camera lens, if this were filmed. In effect our whole field of view is covered with a sponge. We hear Bender.
Bender: concerned, "You are going to reattach that, aren't you?"
END
